I am, I never cared for the SB.
I guess you could try it and..........um.....head for the hills or something.

Seriously, is it really necessary to have a Shout Box in the Forum?
The world is now flooded with instant messaging, do we really need it for the good of the site?

No. The SB is very useful. It is often the first port of call for people with problems, including those who never use the forums. It can be hugely fun too. I love the rotating men, but the SB does serve a more important function, imho.

And, Chris, setting up a private chatroom in the SB is Instant Messaging.

What? So.......chatting at a rapid speed with strangers is more important than looking at 3000 nude pictures?
GT was alive and well before the SB.
I suggest bring back the rotating men now, and when the problem is sorted out, bring back the SB.

I used to have a collection of them uploaded as a torrent, but I can't find it. Maybe someone can point you there, or maybe Armageddon could upload an updated one?

There's plenty of hot pictures on GT, we don't really need them, so don't try too hard if they cause trouble, maybe you can find a better use of your time e.g. find a way to allow attachments in private messages.

Would the problem be rectified if a different chatroom was implemented? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been frustrated with the current ShoutBox a few times. It's useful, but I'm sure there's a better alternative out there.

I'm a big fan of this. Really, I'd rather see an IRC chat room. There are a ton of great IRC servers that take almost no server resources to run, and are very easy to set up. Plus, you can just join the room, and leave it minimized. Also, it's inconspicuous, so even if you're in a public area, it's not something you have to hide. (Unless people regularly come up behind you and start reading your chat logs)

1. If they were back, they are gone again? I can't see them.

2. It was always an incredible popular feature using the old software - some of us spent much time collecting them
3. They serve no purpose at all - they were fun, that's all!
4. There were (and I think still are) issues getting them to show still. And the big man has tried very hard!
5. Whether or not they are working, you can configure/turn them off in your torrent profile.
